Peekaboo Design Group is a full service baby planning and nursery design firm dedicated to alleviating stress for expecting parents, giving them more time to focus on a happy, healthy pregnancy and baby.

We’re best known for our signature service of helping expecting couples keep the surprise of boy or girl. This allows parents to achieve their fabulous gender specific nursery and still get to hear “It’s a Boy!” or “It’s a Girl!” for the first time in the delivery room. Wonder how we do it? As one of the first baby planning companies in the United States, started in 2004, Peekaboo created and continues to perfect this new concept. The Peekaboo method is very different than many other baby planning companies. Our focus starts in the nursery. We have found that once the nursery is well planned out in both design and function, everything else falls into place.

If a parent knows their nursery game plan, then it makes it easier to register, have a shower theme, photography, announcements and much more. By checking off one of the largest stresses when preparing for baby, it also allows them to focus on what’s really important, planning to care for baby in the womb and beyond.

Peekaboo consists of three main departments: Baby Nursery Planning, Baby Essentials Planning and Baby Plush Planning (or, the fun stuff!). All three departments work together to make sure that every new Peekaboo Parent is absolutely prepared.

Kim Hendry, Founder of Peekaboo

Kim’s very first venture dates back to 1981 when she started Kim's Cards, Inc., a custom greeting card company created to fill the needs of the kids on her block. After selling the greeting card business to a kid in her fourth-grade math class, she turned to the world of sports, starting the Fairview Tetherball League where games were played in her parent’s backyard. From this venture she went on to start a bank (from her Mother’s keyed roll top desk), a publishing company and an aerobics center – all targeting the kids in her neighborhood and school. As one friend said recently, “Why did we pay her to do all that stuff?"

Though Kim was born with an entrepreneurial spirit, it took her years to come back to that in her adult life. She spent 10 years in media before finding her passion of assisting couples as they prepare for baby and helping those couples keep what she calls, the surprise of a lifetime.

The concept was born after watching all of her pregnant friends juggle work, family and home while trying to prepare for baby with very little energy or time. She and her team have worked for years building a system that truly helps expecting families. In this work, they’ve been able to perfect a simple 3-step process of creating and installing the nursery – one of the biggest stresses when preparing for baby.
